TKAT ACE (A Champion for Every child)

At Orion Scotts Park, the TKAT ACE (A Champion for Every Child) programme is our commitment to ensuring that every child—regardless of background—feels supported, confident, and ready to succeed. For our Year 6 pupils eligible for Pupil Premium, ACE provides an additional layer of personalised pastoral support at a crucial stage in their education.

What is TKAT ACE?

The ACE programme gives each participating child an ACE Tutor—a trusted adult who becomes their consistent point of support. The tutor works closely with the child to help remove barriers to learning, build confidence, and nurture resilience. The programme reflects our belief that no child should be disadvantaged because of their socioeconomic circumstances.

What does an ACE Tutor do?

ACE Tutors meet regularly with our Year 6 Pupil Premium pupils. Sessions are tailored to each child’s needs and may include:

· Exploring what might be getting in the way of learning and finding practical ways to move forward

· Encouraging good routines around attendance, punctuality, and being ready to learn

· Offering support and targeted work where necessary with friendships, emotions, confidence, and future hopes

· Recognising and valuing each child’s effort, progress, and unique qualities

Together, the child and their ACE Tutor create a simple action plan that focuses on both personal and academic goals.

How ACE supports personal growth

Through their ACE sessions, pupils have opportunities to:

· Set meaningful goals that build confidence and independence

· Develop a growth mindset and learn positively from challenges

· Strengthen emotional awareness and self-belief

· Recognise and celebrate their achievements

ACE Tutors are there to guide, encourage, and champion each child as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
