British Values
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) Development
At Orion Scotts Park, we recognise the importance of not only academic success but also the development of every child socially, morally, spiritually, and culturally. We believe that fostering qualities such as respect and reflection helps children face challenges in learning and life beyond the classroom.
Through our SMSC scheme, pupils:
- Review their actions and achievements using “I can/I have” statements.
- Spend time discussing how these values are ones that we all live by in the UK.
Our aim is to prepare learners for life in modern Britain by promoting key values:
- Democracy
- Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect
- Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
