PE and Sport Premium

What is the PE and Sport Premium?

The PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding provided to primary schools to improve the quality and breadth of physical education, school sport, and physical activity. At Orion Scotts Park, we are committed to using this funding to ensure all children develop healthy, active lifestyles and have opportunities to experience a wide range of sports and physical activities.

Our Vision for PE and Sport

We believe that high-quality physical education is essential for children's physical health, mental wellbeing, and overall development. Through PE and sport, children develop important life skills including teamwork, resilience, leadership, and self-confidence. Our aim is to inspire all pupils to enjoy being active and to adopt healthy habits that last a lifetime.

How We Use the PE and Sport Premium

We allocate the PE and Sport Premium strategically to maximise impact across the school. Our spending focuses on sustainable improvements that benefit all pupils, including:

  • Quality Teaching – Providing professional development and training for staff to enhance the quality of PE teaching across the curriculum
  • Specialist Coaching – Employing specialist sports coaches to deliver high-quality PE lessons and after-school clubs, while also upskilling our teaching staff
  • Increased Participation – Expanding the range of sports and physical activities on offer, ensuring all children can find activities they enjoy and excel in
  • Competitive Opportunities – Enabling children to participate in inter-school competitions, tournaments, and festivals to build confidence and sporting skills
  • Equipment and Resources – Investing in quality equipment and facilities to ensure safe, engaging, and varied physical education experiences
  • Active Lifestyles – Promoting physical activity throughout the school day, including active playtimes and initiatives that encourage movement and wellbeing

Measuring Impact

We regularly review and evaluate the impact of our PE and Sport Premium spending to ensure it delivers meaningful improvements in pupils' physical literacy, participation rates, and attitudes towards sport and physical activity. The use of the grant is monitored by our governing body to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
