At Orion, we believe every child has the potential to be a leader. Our pupil leadership programme gives children across the school the opportunity to take on meaningful roles that develop their confidence, responsibility, and pride in their community. From supporting younger pupils at playtime to representing their classmates on the School Council, our leaders make a real difference every day.
Our School Deputies are among the most senior pupil leaders in school. They act as role models for all pupils, supporting staff and representing the school community with maturity and pride. Deputies may be called upon to welcome visitors, lead assemblies, and speak on behalf of the school at special events.
House Captains are the proud leaders of each of our four school houses, named after inspiring figures: Donaldson, Wilson, Benjamin, and Rosen. House Captains motivate their house members, help organise events and competitions, and foster a sense of belonging and healthy team spirit throughout the school.
School Council representatives are elected by their classmates to be their voice in school decisions. They attend regular meetings to discuss ideas, raise concerns, and help shape the future of our school, from suggesting improvements to the environment to influencing how we celebrate achievements. Every child's opinion matters, and our School Council makes that happen.
Sports Ambassadors champion physical activity and healthy lifestyles across the school. They help organise and lead playground games, encourage participation in sport, and support the delivery of school sporting events. Ambassadors are enthusiastic and inclusive, ensuring every child feels welcome to get active.
Our Sustainability Ambassadors lead the way in making Orion Scotts Park a greener, more environmentally responsible school. They are responsible for managing the food waste bins and help promote sustainable habits, from reducing waste to encouraging recycling ,across the whole school community.
Travel Ambassadors promote active and sustainable travel to and from school, encouraging pupils and families to walk, cycle, or scoot wherever possible. They raise awareness of the benefits of leaving the car at home, for our health, our community, and our environment.
Wellbeing Warriors are kind, caring pupils who look out for others on the playground during break and lunchtime. In KS2, they ensure all children are happy, safe, and included. They are trained to spot children who may be feeling left out or upset, and to offer support or alert a member of staff when needed. Being a Wellbeing Warrior is one of our most valued roles.
Our KS1 Wellbeing Warriors are older pupils who give up their lunchtime to support the youngest children in school. Working in the KS1 playground, they help children settle, join in with games, and feel safe and happy. This role develops empathy, responsibility, and confidence, and our younger pupils love having them there.
Our Librarians are passionate readers who help keep our school library organised, welcoming, and full of life. They assist with lending and returning books, help younger pupils choose their next great read, and support the promotion of reading for pleasure across the school.
