School Uniform

Our Uniform

At Orion Scotts Park, we believe that school uniform plays an important role in promoting a sense of pride, belonging and equality among our pupils. Wearing uniform helps children to feel part of our school community and removes unnecessary distractions, allowing them to focus on their learning.

We have high expectations for uniform and ask that all children come to school looking smart and ready to learn every day. We appreciate your support in ensuring that your child wears the correct uniform at all times.

Uniform Requirements

Reception to Year 6:

  • Grey trousers, skirt, pinafore or tailored shorts
  • White shirt (plain, no logos)
  • Orion Scotts Park jumper or cardigan (with school logo)
  • Tie
  • Black shoes (not trainers, boots, or open-toe sandals)
  • Grey, white or black socks or tights

PE Kit:

  • Plain white t-shirt or Orion Scotts Park PE t-shirt
  • Black or navy shorts or jogging bottoms
  • Trainers (suitable for indoor and outdoor PE)
  • Orion Scotts Park PE hoodie (optional, for outdoor PE in colder weather)

Optional Items:

  • Summer dress – (summer term only)
  • Orion Scotts Park book bag or backpack

Nursery (Orion Little Stars)

Nursery children do not need to wear full school uniform but should wear comfortable, practical clothing suitable for play and messy activities. We recommend dark-coloured clothes that you don't mind getting paint, glue or mud on! Please ensure all clothing is clearly labelled with your child's name.

Hair and Accessories

  • Hair should be neat and tidy. Long hair must be tied back for health and safety reasons, particularly during PE and food activities.
  • Hair accessories should be small and in school colours (grey, white, black or navy).
  • Extreme hairstyles, including shaved patterns, unnatural hair colours, or fashion cuts, are not permitted.
  • No jewellery should be worn, with the exception of small stud earrings (one per ear). Earrings must be removed or covered with tape for PE lessons.
  • Nail varnish and make-up are not permitted.

Footwear

  • Children must wear sensible black school shoes. Trainers, boots, sandals, and shoes with lights or characters are not permitted as part of everyday uniform.
  • Trainers should only be worn for PE lessons.
  • In the interest of safety, we do not allow shoes with heels or open-toe sandals.

PE Days

Children should come to school in their PE kit on designated PE days. Your child's class teacher will let you know which days these are at the start of the year. Please ensure your child has appropriate footwear and layers for outdoor PE, especially in the cooler months.

Labelling

Please ensure that all items of uniform and PE kit are clearly labelled with your child's name. This helps us to reunite lost property with its owner quickly. Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged items.

Where to Buy Uniform

Orion Scotts Park branded uniform (jumpers and cardigans) can be purchased from Brigade - Brigade Uniform

Plain uniform items (shirts, trousers, skirts, etc.) can be purchased from most supermarkets and high street retailers.

Financial Support

We understand that the cost of school uniform can be a concern for some families. If you are experiencing financial difficulties and need support with uniform costs, please contact the school office in confidence. We are here to help and can signpost you to available support.

Second-Hand Uniform

We operate a second-hand uniform scheme to help families access good-quality uniform at a reduced cost and to promote sustainability. If you have any uniform in good condition that your child has outgrown, we would be grateful for donations. Second-hand uniform is available from the school office – please ask for details.

Non-Uniform Days

From time to time, we hold non-uniform or themed dress-up days to raise money for charity or to celebrate special occasions. You will always be given advance notice of these days. On non-uniform days, we ask that children wear appropriate clothing, nothing offensive, revealing, or unsuitable for a school environment.

Uniform Expectations

We expect all children to wear full school uniform every day. If there is a reason why your child is unable to wear the correct uniform (for example, due to a lost item or a medical reason), please send a note to the class teacher or contact the school office to let us know.

Persistent non-compliance with the uniform policy may result in contact from the school and, in some cases, the provision of spare uniform items until the issue is resolved.

Thank you for your continued support in maintaining our high standards of uniform. When children look smart, they feel proud to be part of Orion Scotts Park, and it sets the tone for a positive and focused school day.

If you have any questions about our uniform policy, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
