At Orion Scotts Park, we believe that great books have the power to inspire, excite and transform young readers and writers. High-quality literature sits at the heart of our English curriculum, and we have carefully selected a range of core texts that drive the teaching of reading and writing across every year group.

Our core texts have been chosen thoughtfully to reflect the diverse backgrounds, experiences and interests of all our pupils. We want every child to see themselves represented in the stories they read, while also opening windows to new worlds, cultures and perspectives they may not have encountered before.

We recognise that not all children arrive at school with the same enthusiasm for reading, and our text choices reflect this.
